The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirm the Department's status as a world class centre for Information Studies. The detailed assessment by a panel of experts of the quality of our published outputs, research environment and academic standing ranked the Department first amongst all library and information science departments in the UK with 65% of research graded in the top 4* (world leading) and 3* (internationally excellent) categories. This latest success continues our outstanding track record in the RAE, where we have been awarded the highest possible grade in every assessment exercise to date.
